Steel Mills – RIM Tach? 8500 NexGen Encoder
Compact and bearingless, the RIM8500 NexGen mounts to any 180 C Face motor. The Stainless steel and cast iron construction make it a perfect fit for the harsh conditions in a steel mill. Sensor modules are removable on the fly allowing for quick replacement and require no gapping.

NorthStar RIM Tach Encoder Family
The NorthStar RIM Tach encoder line (formerly Lakeshore encoders) was originally introduced 20 years ago to provide the highest performance encoder solution for large motor and drive control systems in paper and steel mills. The next generation of NorthStar motor tachs offer the most reliable magnetic technology on the market thanks to a large non contacting air gap, active LED indicators with diagnostics, fully encapsulated electronics and field replaceable sensor modules for the RT8 and RT1 models. A high current line driver with active line suppression, reverse polarity and ESD protection is also available for RT models allowing for reliable operation and long cable runs.

NorthStar SLIM Tach Encoder Family
The NorthStar SLIM Tach encoder line (formerly Lakeshore encoders) was originally designed as a low profile solution for heavy duty motor feedback applications where shaft space is limited. With profiles as slim as 0.75 inches, the SLIM Tach encoder line is ideal for sandwich mount applications where an encoder is mounted between a brake or gearbox. The next generation of SLIM Tach encoders offers easily installation and reliability thanks to a large non contacting air gap, active LED indicators with diagnostics and fully encapsulated electronics. The latest high current line driver, active line suppression, reverse polarity and ESD protection are available adding cutting edge technology to the SLIM Tach family.
